The beginning…
Green Loo was founded seven years ago by Roland Schroeder, a true pioneer in the field of composting toilets and ‘humanure’. With over 30 years of off-grid living experience in Australia, Roland’s expertise extends far beyond book knowledge — it’s rooted in hands-on practice and a deep understanding of sustainable living.
During his extensive off-grid life, Roland observed a troubling trend within the composting toilet industry. Despite the apparent variety of websites, brands, and retailers, he discovered that this seeming diversity was largely illusory, with a single company at the core of it all. This monopolistic hold not only stifled innovation but also led to inflated prices and diminished customer service.
Determined to break this cycle, Green Loo was established to introduce genuine competition and expand choice in the Australian market. Our mission is to provide high-quality, sustainable composting toilets that are both affordable and accessible, empowering consumers to make informed choices without the constraints of a monopolized market.

Inspired by environmentally conscious principles and guided by our commitment to corporate social responsibility, Green Loo has made ‘locally made’ its priority.
